Ten bucks will get you into the two haunted houses. But never fear! Six Flags Season Pass Coupon Book is here! So I got in for free.
The first haunted house we hit was TinselTown Terror. This house was built in the bumper car arena and the queue was the regular bumper car queue. This was the first ever haunted house that I had been in at a theme park, so I was quite scared. (sad, since I have my own haunted house) The first part was the best, a simple black wall with a very short person dresses in complete black and someone about six foot seven with just a mask. Sure, it doesn't sound that bad, but it was very good the way they both popped out from opposite directions. Another great part was a hall with a lot of fog and tons of strobes that had an actor run at you.
But by no means was this house as good as it could of been. For one, scene placement wasn't that great, there were a lot of scenes that were on the outside of a turn. When you're in a haunted house, you normally look to the inside of a turn to see what's coming next. Also, the talent was not good at all, most had "Six Flags Syndrome" Most of them just looked at us without any effort to scare you.
All in all, I enjoyed this house since it was my first ever.
Next up, Brutal Planet, located near Roar. The house actually used part of Zonga's old overflow queue for a queue. This haunt was better than TinselTown Terror, there were more effects and a better design. The acting was much better, less "Six Flags Like." This house had a bad lighting problem. The whole time it was way too bright, not enough dark areas. Brutal Planet didn't have great scares, but was themed well.
The Haunted Mine Ride was back for Fright Fest this year.
White Water Safari is down for the rest of the season. All the water has been drained and the inflatable part of the rafts have been removed.
Looking towards the lift at the end of the ride.
Enough of that, let's head on over to the scare zone.
Neat little guy standing around. But something's missing...

Madagascar hissing cockroaches!!! Yes, a shot of the newest Fright Fest tradition: Eat a live cockroach, skip a two minute wait! If you look closely, you can see the cockroach.
