If you do choose to apply to work in the theme park industry, here are a few quick interview tips:
This is Your Job - If you are interviewing for a theme park job, remember that this is a job you applied for and want to have. This means, don't dwell on the past. If you have worked at a job that paid more or was more prestigious, don't keep mentioning that. Sure, your qualifications and past experience are important, but theme parks don't want to hear about how you have "lowered your standards" or "will work anywhere at this point." There are plenty of applicants that are going for the same job and would gladly take it. When you are interviewing, remember, this is your new job, forget the past, it's time to make the best of the job you are going for. This is Your Job has never been more important than right now. With these tough, tough economic times, many professionals are looking to the theme park business to get some cash. But please, please remember that the parks don't want to hear about your "lower standards." A theme park is a fun and challenging place to work with many opportunities for advancement. So make the best out of it and enjoy yourself! Be Positive - Trust me, if you are going for a theme park job
you have to be positive. Bring a great attitude and lots of enthusiasm
to your interview. Parks are looking for fun, friendly, and outgoing
people to work. It doesn't matter if you are interviewing for a ride
operator job or a marketing job, keep on smiling! Know the Park - If you want to work in the theme park business, you should know something about it. Most interviews include a question about your previous knowledge of the park. If you haven't been to the park you are interviewing at, just Google the park! Read up on the latest news, know some rides, the history, company background, etc. Everything else you know about interviewing holds true as well. I won't go in depth on other points as they have been discussed just about everywhere. Stay professional, dress well, don't chew gum, etc. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions please feel free to contact us!
