April 27, 2009 – Lake Compounce Family Theme Park located in Bristol/Southington, Connecticut will open for their 164^th season on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Lake Compounce is the nation’s oldest, continuously operating amusement park.

General Manager Jerry Brick says, “2009 brings family friendly additions and improvements to the park that include three new rides, redesigned restrooms, new food items, new games, more lockers and new point of purchase systems in stores and restaurants.”

New rides include; The Jolly Jester which is a new Kiddieland ride that is like a mini pirate ship that sparks the imagination and provides waves of fun, The WipeOut is a topsy-turvy spinning ride which will be located in the back of the park near the Bumper Cars. And Tunnel Twisters, which is the newest addition to the water park, is a tower with 3 exciting new water slides.

Brand new shows, from NYC production company RWS Entertainment, include ‘RockNation’ peformed in the air-conditioned Starlight Theatre, as well as the ‘Knights of Recycling’, ‘Dress up’n Dance’ in Circus World, and ‘Danny and the Parkside Dinettes’ in front of the Parkside Diner

New food items include Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, which will be available in the Market Place, in front of Thunder n Lightning. And the Slush Factory will be located on the hill in between Kiddieland and the Enterprise, where you can mix and match your own colors and flavors of frozen drink.

New games include; Blockbuster where you must knock all three blocks off the platform to win a prize, Boulder Darts in which you have to score at least 110 points with 3 darts to win, Goblet Toss where you throw the ball into the goblets and land in a colored one win, Mini Hoops where you throw a mini basketball into a mini hoop to win, and a brand new ring toss which has doubled in size and now has 2 levels.

New point of purchase registers have been installed in all food stands and retail outlets, allowing for faster service, the ability to accept credit cards at each location.

“Our guests like to know we are committed to improving the park year after year”, says Brick, “and this year is no exception. We expect they’ll be pleased”.
