The Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District) is excited to be partnering with Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in support of the park’s Discover Going Green program.

Kicking off the 2009 season on February 28, Discover Going Green is a month-long event celebrating the park’s efforts to reduce their contribution to air pollution by composting animal waste to use as fertilizer, switching to green cleaners, eliminating Styrofoam products, reducing paper products and switching off non-essential lighting. The program also encourages park visitors’ air friendly behaviors by providing additional recycling receptacles.

The Air District will be on site at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s Dolphin Fountain Plaza opening day February 28, and weekends throughout March (except Sunday March 1, when the park will be closed to the public.). Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and 511.org will also be on hand to offer visitors information about air-friendly travel options such as rideshare programs and public transportation.
