Last week PETA claimed victory over Six Flags for making them retire the Fright Fest cockroach eating contest. Now PETA is at it again, this time with SeaWorld. PETA wants to make an offer on one or more of the SeaWorld parks with the intention of releasing all the animals. PETA claims to have a major donor lined up that would fund the purchase. After they release all the animals, PETA would replace the exhibits with virtual reality or animatronics. Read their statment here. I’m pretty much at a loss of words on this; I’m not sure how to respond. I think Fred Jacobs, a Busch Entertainment Spokesperson said it best, he sees the offer as “a publicity stunt.” Any thoughts?
