The following is the first official Network Update, a new feature that will bring more frequent park updates to Theme Park Village. For more information, please visit our Message Boards.

On Thursday Busch Entertainment Company (BEC) announced that they have reached a deal with Nakheel, one of the worlds largest privately held real estate developers, to bring all four of Worlds of Discoveries parks to the super city of Dubai. Nakheel has been key to the transformation of Dubai from a coastal fishing town to one of the fastest growing cities in the world.

Unlike other parks and deals, B.E.C. will not have to spend the capital to create the mega park, that will rest solely on Nakheel, but instead will provide the license to the parks, and over see in the development of attractions and training for the parks. The parks will occupy "The Crown" of The Palm Jebel Ali, a completely manmade island of sand and rock. The crown will also be a man made island in the shape of a Killer Whale. Design work and planning is already underway with the first stage being scheduled to open in 2012.
