Celebration City in Branson, Missouri has announced that Saturday, October 25 will be their final day of operation. The park, owned by Herschend Family Entertainment, opened in 2003 and featured Ozark Wildcat, a GCI wooden coaster and the new for 2008 Roaring Falls. Herschend has not announced plans for the site, but they do mention that reinventing the property is still an option. This news comes after Herschend announced a couple weeks back that Dollywood would postpone their new for 2009 attraction. For more information, visit the Celebration City website.

Our latest poll results are in, so what is your favorite US Disney park? Our poll puts the original Disneyland in California at the top.
With about one third of the vote, Walt Disney’s original park, Disneyland topped the poll. Even though Theme Park Village has a bit of west coast bias, I’m still a bit surprised that the park won. Disneyland has always been referred to as, “charming” while the Magic Kingdom in Florida is, “spectacular.” None the less, I’m happy; Disneyland is my favorite theme park, probably because I have many early memories from the park. Plus you have to give the park credit; they were the original home to many Disney classics including Pirates of the Caribbean.
In second spot was EPCOT, the half futuristic and half world’s fair park in Florida. EPCOT has long been praised for its beauty, shows, and even a couple of good rides.
Florida parks Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios came in third, fourth, and fifth respectively. And in last place with just two votes: California Adventure. It’s no wonder that Disney is investing around one billion dollars into the park to revitalize it. |
