Sometimes I really wish I lived in the North East. This Mother’s Day, Canobie Lake Park of Salem, NH, is offering free admission for mothers and will even treat mom to a free lunch! Chris Nicoli, the park’s Marking Manager put it this way, “The entire family can spend a fun day together without spending a lot. Plus parking is always free.” Free parking! Now that’s what I’m talking about!

Kids in America
Copyright 2009 :: Discover Myrtle Beach

It’s not too often that a park gets praise for adding a new kids area. However, in Freestyle Music Park’s case, the addition of Kids in America is a step in the right direction.

Formerly Hard Rock Park, Freestyle Music Park of Myrtle Beach has broken ground on a brand new kids area. Kids in America is not a large kids area, just four new rides, but is set to make a large impact on the park. When the park opened last season, there were simply not enough rides for kids. The park’s new management is looking to cash in on the ‘family friendly’ craze to bring in more families.

So while the addition of a kids area is not that impressive, it is certainly a step in the right direction for Freestyle Music Park.

Who doesn’t love Holiday World? Their famous Holiblog has posted a couple videos of their new water ride, Pilgrim’s Plunge. Hopefully the park won’t have any major problems with the unique lift, considering it is so revolutionary. But that lift is probably going to be a thrill in itself!

Diamondback at Kinds Island

Diamondback is officially open and the reviews are rolling in! Both News Plus Notes and RollerCoasterPro have great updates from the ride’s grand opening. There have also been many photos and videos showing just how long the lines have been for the new coaster. That’s a great response indeed!

It's Not That Big of a Deal

Six Flags News
An article published by the Los Angeles Times last week reports that Six Flags charges $5 to print tickets at home. Yes, yes they do. In fact, Six Flags has been charging $5 since last year and have been charging years before that. But despite Six Flags’ history of charging to print tickets, people all across the internet have been up in arms over the report.

But Six Flags is not alone.

Knotts Berry Farm and Cedar Point charge $3 and Universal Orlando and Carowinds charge $2 to print tickets at home. Couple that with Disney’s charge to pick up tickets at will call and soon you realize that everyone does it.

So before everyone jumps on Six Flags, remember that many parks charge as well. It is a fee we pay for the convenience. We don’t have to wait in line at the park and can just walk through the turnstiles. Plus, keep in mind that most parks use an outside ticket vendor for online ticket sales. Most of the charges go to those companies, not the amusement park’s bank account.

And remember that tickets you purchase online are deeply discounted. A typical Six Flags ticket purchased online will save you between $10 and $30 per ticket! Say you have a family of four, you save say $80 by purchasing your tickets online. Now you have to pay $5 for printing the tickets. You still save $75!

So really, before everyone freaks out about $5, remember why that $5 is there.
