Theme Park Village was founded on July 17th, 2006. Hosted by Freewebs, Theme Park Village was the ordinary new site that didn't look all too great. Although, just a few days later, JCM was hired on to make the site HTML. Popularity began to pick up in August of 2006, and by the September 1st, Theme Park Village had almost 60 members. A true feat for such a small, grassroots site.       JCM and I, Zonga, were now ready to upgrade. Our old site had a nice little photo gallery, free forums, and other features. But that was the past, we made our decision to upgrade to an all new host. After much research, we made up our mind and Theme Park Village was set for two more years. www.freewebs.com/themeparkvillage was now themeparkvillage.com. No more Freewebs, no more Invisionfree.       The work to get our new site up was quite a lot of work. Phase one was the forums. After much frustration Theme Park Village got the help of superstrikertwo, and soon the new forums were up. Phase one was complete as of September 5th, 2006.       Phase two, easier said than done. A lot of work was to be done in order to get Theme Park Village up and running. Days and days were put into make this site possible. More work than ever expected had to be done in order for the site to operate perfectly. On September 14th, 2006, Phase Two was complete and so was version 3.0.       Time went on and some minor changes occurred, Versions 3.1 and 3.2 were nothing too major. In February 2007 Theme Park Village entered Version 3.3. The new site was completely restructured for a cleaner format and structure. The entire site was also transferred to use CSS to make updating the layout much easier. Of course that doesn't bring in the members, it's the features. A new game tutorial and download section, resource center, reviews, articles, and park updates were added to the site. The biggest feature to come with Version 3.3 though was the all new photo gallery. Members can now upload there very own photos with no hassle, visit our photo gallery for more information.       In June 2007, Theme Park Village announced a new endeavor, Discovery Kingdom Radio. As the unofficial podcast of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, DKR brings listeners the latest happenings at SFDK. Our favorite episode to date is the Thomas Town Grand Opening where we podcasted LIVE from the park. Episode two also included an interview with Captain Lee Munro.       On July 17th, 2007, TPV will celebrate its first year of theme park coverage. After a full year, Theme Park Village has covered parks across the country with photos, news, and reviews. With over 15 parks in our park gallery, TPV has truly grown in its first year.       I'd like to thank all who have contributed to the site: Comet, JCM, -Drop Zone-, Nuclear Fish, Jacob21, TalonFan#1, Xcelerator, PKIDude01, and Sean. The photos and other material have helped tremendously towards the growth of Theme Park Village. And finally I'd like to thank all members of our forums who continue the quality discussion that keeps the site alive. Thanks for the great ride thus far, Eric [Zonga] Theme Park Village Owner & Webmaster |
